19/5.
Today was a very special day for Nyai. It's her 69th birthday, the very 69th one. Instead of going out to dinner (as always, initiated by the more affluent amongst the league of extraordinary aunt's and uncles), my families had a simple, home-cooked dinner at her home. The poor birthday lady (who looked subtle and soft in pink) was ill and coughing throughout the whole day; the whole family was, actually. But, although her spirits were dampened by the flood of attacking viruses inside her body, she still remained as strong and just as ever.
For she is, the lady in Gray.
But mistake not, the presence of bittersweet melancholy in her eyes. After having just lost a sister, I can imagine how lonely it must've felt. But, fret not, because although the rains have been harsh, and there hasn't always been shelter, the beat of her warm heart remains to this day, loud and strong. For, for someone who has overcome the harsh storms of adversity, and has ridden out the bitter fall-outs of life, she truly is, and has always been, one unbeatably tough nut.
That's all I can say. Z' dnyem rozhdeniem, Nyai. (I'm not very good at romanizing Cyrillic, but hope that spells out as: Happy Birthday, Nyai. *winks*)
