Okay, here's how today went:
Well, I woke up at around half-past-six in the morning today (thanks, July and Vicki for being my alarm clocks), bathed, got decent, then met Vicki at the interchange. MRT-ed with her and Sheila De Lion (who came in at Eunos by the way) all the way to school.
So, everyone was waiting for everyone else at the club room. Had the pre-performance chitter-chatter. (Yeah, as usual, we talked about funny and random stuff, like Britney Spear's younger sister, whatsherface...) Anyway, soon it was time for us to get 'serious'. Make-up and hair for about 2 hours, thanks again to you's make-up crewers for putting up with us; they make us people look as purdy as possibly can, and by purdy for me I mean like a 'chinonek Best Denki salesman' purdy, right David? *blows raspberry*... and oh yah, THANKS AH for my sexy hairstyle, Arathi, Wawa and Andy & Weave, you you three mumu's you (haha, I hope they won't ever get to read that). Tick tock, the clock...
Ok, now, can I fast-forward a bit?, survivor my hot show is going to start soon, hahaha.
Okay okay, after the hoopla (or should I say after make-up, cause the 'hoopla' never really ends, haha!) we all got our buttocks to the sports complex (is that what you call it?) for jang-jang-jang-jang.....
One word: Woweepalooza. The people from minds were truly adorable. I don't know why we call them the less fortunate. Having not a single effing care in the world (I guess) about, how you look like, or, whether you are going to embarrass yourself in front of people, that kind of thing, coupled with the fact that you really seem to enjoy life, it's just a very, very moving thing to see (for me). I guess God gives everyone their own blessings, one way, or another.
Then, the moment we've all been waiting for came... The play, as you know it, duh, was awesome (hunble, humble). Haha. Although it wasn't perfect, I am glad that the MINDs-ers (wow, what a word) appreciated our skit, and were (more than) enthusiastic about joining in. After it ended, and after we got a short breather, it was time to boogey. Woe betide me if EVER in the world photos of our 'little' dance get shown or published somewhere. Hey but seriously, from the bottom of my broken heart: Being there and interacting with those guys actually was the best part of the day for me, it was...it was....bittersweet.
(God, I wish I am less lazy, enough to actually post photos.)
Just like that, the show ended. Well, after putting back everything (props, costumes) in the club/store room, we all ate. Me, like there's no tomorrow. Munch munch munch. Super-July and Suma brought us a beautiful cake too, for all the beautiful September babies). We all are really touched by everything being done for us (I am!). Arigatou kasih!
And before I forget, I want to say a HUGE thank you from the bottom-of-my-apparently-handle-with-care-broken-glass-heart (that should be, a song or something) to the directors of the play, July, Vicki and Hanaffi. For all the e-mails, wake-up calls, hushes and shushes, and everything in between, you guys rock my world man (Haha). For all the seniors, especially Kaye, for being so dedicated, and wanting to see our little thing succeed. You guys are da' atomic bomb! (And aww for Kaye and her little note to us guys! Ang baiiiiit mo, talaga!). And of course, a standing ovation to everyone involved in this performance. You've put on quite a show (whooooahhh...whooooahhh).
Okay, and survivor started 5 minutes ago... So ciao for now.
EDIT: Survivor starts at 11 today, bummer.
Hahaha. Snagglepuss.

Smelling salt.
I don't know just how I am going to adjust to the rigours of school life once again. Yes, semester 2 starts next Monday, and judging by the timetable (released just at the perfect time to calm my spirits) for the new term, I don't think I can adjust. At all.
This narcolepsy is indeed sliding into another nightmare. Doctors say that we should have at least a week's worth of 'training our body clocks' to ensure that it will wake us up at the right time every day. I tried that last year, but apparently my body clock is evil.
Argh. Anyways, went for drama rehearsals on Monday. Everything was just peachy, our play got much better, so all in all, good job. Oh yeah, 'twas Hani's birthday too, so we celebrated at the start with some vanilla cake. And yes, never, ever, bring in any type of cake, pie, confectionery or sweets within an arm's distance of Hanaffi.
Tuesday (today) was rest day. Woke up at 1 p.m. I had to buy the groceries, because mom never has the time to cook again these days, what more bother with the groceries (yes, im staying at my house again). Got some chicken breasts, potatoes, and a couple of baguettes for making Devil's curry (got the recipe from Tri). Okay, this is a message to every spice lover out there. If you truly are a spice lover, and not just a spice lover because you think it's cool, you should arm yourself with at least a bottle's worth of Cayenne pepper. Cayenne. Have it in any spicy sauce or curry, and trust me, the result, is beyond, as in beyond, death. Ah...yeaah.
So after eating and cleaning up the mess in the kitchen, I watched the telly a bit. Chatted with dad on the phone during his tea break (wow, all those company perks), then before I knew it the doorbell rang, and mom said 'hi'. I had told her not to bring home take-away because of all the food we already had. Well, im glad that were back to our old selves. Good for us.
Oh, gotta check on the fish sitting in the oven. Were having salmon for supper. Wan out!

Weekend.
This weekend was like, one whole mini-week for me.
Friday, I went over to Tri's house (where im staying now). She had to finish up an important assignment for poly (way to go, leave it till the last minute, haha) so I had to entertain Afik and Sasha (Daniel was at Nyai's). They were both hungry, so we ordered KFC. The new spicy drumlets they have were superb, I especially loved the thai-flavoured variety (drumsticks that taste like thai people, ew, sounds sick, =). After that, I just turned up the AC, and left the kiddos to their drawings. Shasha has a habit of calling me an artist, whenever I doodle something gross, just because im in design school, and that's hilarious.
In the evening, when Tri became less patient of the noise (haha, we were playing DJ), I brought the both of them down to the playground to...well, play. Haha, I thought I might have wanted to join them but there were secondary school students walking around us everywhere so I didn't want to make myself look like a fool (shut up, Tri =P).
After Tri was done (or after she had given up) with her assignment, we left the kiddos to watch Foster's on their laptop, while we ate what's left of the chicken (we got the 10 piece meal, haha). Slept like babies.
Saturday was tiring, though it always has been. Had drama rehearsals in the morning through the afternoon, for the MINDs play coming soon. We had to bring in and out the props as it was a full-dress rehearsal. Acting like a nerd is as boring as being one. I don't know, and I definitely don't see how you can find that entertaining, so, don't complain if you are not! (entertained). I absolutely loved Neela's bimbo character the most, she made me giggle worse than an eight year old girl in the presence of one of the Jonas Sisters (whoops).
Anyway, after a crazy laughter session with those who stayed back at Mac, I got home and changed. My extended family was going out to Nyai's sister's place. Wow, Nyai and her siblings create some of the best comfort dishes ever. The whole buffet had an Armenian touch to it, of course, with some Russian desserts that I had never tasted before. I basically just sat in one small corner of the house with my aunts and uncles (the kiddos were running around in the balcony) small-talking. There were so many people I didn't know, from my grand uncle's family (who were mostly those Arab types). (I heard sometime ago that they disliked my grandmother and grand aunt because Arabs are supposed to hate Armenians). Though of course, it was Eid, and we all played nice, hahahahaha.
Gosh, after all the hoopla, I found myself more than thankful of my very own bed (well, guest bed to be exact). Chatted with some people (oh my god, Neela, chatting with you makes me wanna MadTv all day, lols!) including my dad. I was kinda' surprised to see him online, so we had a quick chat before turning in (he wanted me to stay over his place tomorrow, but I can't, having rehearsals, see).
I just woke up to find Afik's face barely 2 inches away from mine. Haha. Gonna brunch soon. Wonder what im going to do later....Maybe a trip to Giant, whoohoo.
Man, I get pleased so easily,

Change.
Lately, I have been reading up on all of my old blog entries, the ones from my old blog. Then, I realized, that after comparing them to the entries put into this new one, I felt mad. At myself. Because what I saw, were two completely different authors.
I don't know whether if it's the format of writing, the way I retell my experiences or it's just that I've probably changed as a person.
I pray that it is not the latter.
Because, you can really tell a huge difference between the personalities that wrote, well, blog entry entitled 'Metronome', February 13, and well, any of the more recent entries put into this new blog.
To me, that unseen value, a very deep and unexplainable thing, seems to be lost. This made all of my recent entries seem empty, soul-less, and a little bit immature and in your face.
Trust me, were all no Perez Hiltons or Xiaoxiaos (okay, whatever her name is). I just want to blog about my life, my experiences, me. Though it never hurts to add in a bit of other interesting miscellaneous info, though that should be done in way that relates it back to our thoughts and perceptions. Sighs. I definitely can't seem to shrug off the fact that I love my old blog much, much more than this one. Sure, theres no music, the skin or whatever you call it is lame, and etcetra, but that blog was me.
Sure, you can just tell me to 'write all of that stuff in a journal', but isn't a blog supposed to be an online journal? The final verdict is, yes, we all try too hard to impress others. I mean, who cares if you wrote a scathing review about a reality TV show in your private diary? It's the pressure of people reading your posts that make us do such stuff. Though I'm not putting down people who do this (there's a reason why celebrity bloggers are 'celebrities'), I find it way more interesting and meaningful to write about stuff that you've actually experienced and seen with your own two eyes, your thoughts, and your feelings.
Thus, I've made a pact with myself. From now on, no more preppy entries. In-your-face me is gone (I hope). Now, let's blog about the simple yet more compelling events that happen everyday, what really matters.
I do hope that part of me is still around, somewhere.

On the morning of Eid.
Yesterday was such a delicious day. Being able to eat again during the day is an added bonus of course, so, as expected, I took every opportunity I had to stuff my face with all the cliched Eid food.
The dialoge in red entirely sums up my general mood during the whole day.
Me: "Tri! munch munch munch...Look, its one in the afternoon!!!...munch munch..."
Putri: "So?"
Me: "I'm EATING...munch munch...DURING THE DAY...WHOHOO!
Putri: -gives her stupid sarcastic look which she thinks is sexy- "Congrats."
So pretty much the usual stuff happened today. I was first to arrive at Nyai's, apologized and gave my Eid greetings to all my elders as usual. I had to help Nyai in the kitchen a bit, she cooked up a hell of a storm. There was Briyani steaming in a huge rice pot. Sambal goreng (fried beef and prawns in chili), Serondeng (beef floss) and Lodeh (mixed vegetables in coconut milk), all pre-cooked the night before of course, heated up in their respective giant woks. And of course, the Lontong (rice cakes), served together in chunks on a huge dish, that can't be forgotten.
The other sub-families came a little bit later. As one whole extended family, we are truly a force to be reckoned with (right, cous?). Grandchildren (me included!), running around in their best outfits, munching up all the sweets and treats (some of which I had painstakingly arranged neatly in their jars) and then running some more. Adults, having their usual updates on their lives shared amongst themselves, helping Nyai a bit with the 'backstage work', all seemingly pleased to have at least one day of rest (or NOT) this week. Maids, (I have to add them in, they're family to me) busy with all the dishes, utensils, and yes, FOOD. Celebrating with a family they've only known for a few years, enjoying the day as well, while always thinking of their own family back home, hundreds of kilometres away. It was such a good feeling to see everyone in cheerful spirits.
(Mushy part coming up.)
Superb. Out of all cultures I've experienced (and you bet I have experienced A LOT of them) THIS has got to be one of the best. I find it extremely beautiful, the warmth and joy put into realizing such an event. All the beautiful bright colours, the flickering festive lights. It really is poetic. A perfect end to a whole month's worth of soul-searching and repent. One does not need to truly enjoy Eidulfitr' to get everything good out of it. Yes, it is out of respect for what has happened in the past do we truly celebrate such an occasion, and lest not all of us forget that.
Okay. Mush over. So yeah, the day ended off well. After doing their own little Eid trips to in-laws houses, the various sub-families (all my aunts and uncles) got back together at Nyai's for another round of FOOD. Just like that. Ate for like what, the tenth time that day (?), before going home. The kiddos truly enjoyed themselves. Sad that tomorrow's a schooling day for them already. Yay for me, I have at least a few more days of r&r before the new semester begins. Burps. My stomach is getting noisier lately. Oooh, mushroom treats...
Anyways, thanks for all the Hari Raya greetings everyone. I can't wait to go out and EAT again. Hahaha, greedy much? Don't judge, a boy needs his meat. Oh yeah, I miss Rafa & Mika & Uncle on the other side of the globe. I bet they are probably having their very own little Eid party there right now. Just waiting for their usual videochat and call, hahaha.
Sighs. I have said this before so many times, in my previous blog entries (especially when I was smarter and less 'preppy', during my old blog) even to one point where I challenged its meaning as merely a simplist's method of perceiving the world, and so forth...
But I shall say it again.
Time passes by so fast.
It is a bittersweet notion. What am I but a measly human being, placed second to last on the grand scale of the universe, to judge what happens around us everyday, in such simple words?
I guess the mushy part's not over yet? That must be Shakespheare-me talking again. Heck, whatever, I love Shakespheare-me.
Okay, anyways, I had a very enjoyable time today. I miss Dad, can't remember the last time I actually spent Eid with him. Hope he is doing just fine. Okay, my stomach's getting noisy again. INSTANT TORTILLA CHIPS, ANYONE?
Hahaha.

Eid.
To everyone celebrating the end of Ramadan, here's me wishing you guys a very happy Eidulftr'. Enjoy your day, have lots of food, make up with that one uncle you've always hated and then maybe put a lethal dose of cyanide in his grape kool-aid (kidding!).
Hearing the takbir, no matter from what source, radio or television, always makes me wanna tear.
Anyway, here's me apologizing to anyone out there I might have hurt, whether intentionally or not, with my admittedly sharp words (or non-words, if you know what I mean). Hope you all take care of yourself!
Salam lebaran 2008!
