Sitting duck.

This is an affirmation/declaration:

I am a lazy arse. My room is like a pigsty. My feet smells like prawns. I still need to complete 6 major assignments, all due next week. Yet I still have enough time to laze around with cousin and co. and videochat about dirty things people don't want to talk about.

Carrying on. So, work (I mean school) has been, umm, let me find a suitable adjective...woweepalooza. There are a couple of valuable life lessons i've learnt the past week.

Never ever decide to shift houses the day before we have Joon Kiat's lesson. I think my mom is getting tired of me walking into her home in the middle of the night. I came extremely late for Tuesday's drawing class (by extremely late I mean about 10 minutes late) and got issued a warning letter threatening of my gruesome execution if I don't change my ways. Though bless Joon Kiat for being so horrifyingly understanding.

Another valuable life lesson. Learn to face your demons before leaving the house. If you can't, just do your best. I've had a couple of rough pitfalls in my life (who hasn't) and I've learnt that maintaining a positive front (at the needed times) helps out a lot, both to yourself as well as the people around you. If there are things that do not need to be publicized then try not to be an open book. Have more select channels for alleviating stress, whether it is that helpful friend or that underused journal. I think I still need help in this department, though much thanks for those who care.

Then, there is the most memorable of all the lessons. Wear gloves while using the NT cutter (it's a penknife). Eunice, I feel your pain (and I saw your blood). A design student must protect their hands with all the love and care in the world, am I right or am I right? Haha, get well soon, Eunice's index finger.

Shucks, there goes my Saturday. Now I think I'll stop pretending to be like mom's therapist and start on those bloody contour hands. 30 more to go!

p.s. guess what the evil twins bought for me yesterday. An iPod dock! Just like the one I got them for their birthdays, but with a remote instead! Haha, can't wait for Christmas, I'll be visiting Sobo and Grandpa during the December break. The twins are just killing me. While their off having a second Thanksgiving shopping spree holiday (their in Seattle now, urgh), here I am, dying for just two weeks of break.

I'll just be thankful i'm not going to get bombs dropped on me anytime soon *touches wooden desk*.

Snigger dosage.

It is wonderful and intruiging yet so obviously natural why humans (and primates and rats and dogs, thanks for the correction, Maxxie boi) are the only animal species capable of laughter.

Even when there are constant problems occuring all around us - those said or unsaid, unheard of or imagined - laughter always brings us back to harsh reality: we don't actually have to feel this way. That said...

Here are some of the things that brought me back to reality:

Laughing my bootius maximus off during drama, with the assistance of Suma's trademark laughter.

Laughing myself to death for no reason at all with Kai, Haz, Ama, LR, Nice and Min during - well, a lot of times.

Laughing my boxers off at Putri, who thought that a piece of cloth tape she saw on the floor was a lizard.

Laughing at weird sounds made by our clique (and Chevady) during Model Making.

Laughing at coloured thingies put in a glass bowl (Kai, I don't know what to say, *faints*).

The best thing of all, laughing at myself. For inventing the rule that 14 divided by 2 is 7.5.

chuckles, and chokes.

Time off.

Away with any posts about stress and assignments, please.

Well, Saturday passed by in peace I guess. I headed down to Temasek Polytechnic in the afternoon (for the first time in my life) to help out Hamizan with his report (it was about pornography addiction, so yeah, I was on). Haha. The campus was beautiful (in comparison to Nanyang). The library was gorgeous (in comparison to Nanyang). The design school... Oh my kandarolli, how it puts our two floors to shame. Anyway, after a few hours of umms and ahhs, the report was done, and we went out for some chow. Thanks for the treat and company, old friend.

Now, I need more time off. Christmas holidays, please come by soon.

p.s. i need to nudge Hazwani soon, haha.

p.s. 2, i am having a terrible migraine now.

p.s. 3, oh god, I don't want that pontianak to haunt me.

Uncontourable.

Let's take a break from these crappy emo posts. Here's what happened the past week...

I came to school extra early the first few days, and had high hopes for accomplishing the various assignments on time. So, I remembered, thinking to myself back then, heck, how bad could this week go?

So okay, I had to sacrifice a few things in order for me to keep my priorities right. Drama, family, relaxation and sleep, to say the least. Though how much I miss the drama mama's and papa's and my sexy cousins at home, I still managed to do well.

Then came the assignments. First, there was the Studio Project poster deadline on Friday. Well in the end everything went out rather smoothly i'd have to say. We trudged our way down towards Dhoby Gaut Thursday evening for printing, and did the presentation on Friday, that's the end of that (wow, rather vague). Everyone did a good job, so kudos. A particularly huge portion of that kudos goes to Kai Min, who did a whole lotta stuff for all of us. I for one understand how tough it must've been. You did exceptionally well bro.

Okay what else. Colour studies. Thank goodness for Ms Lee. My concept for her Biennale assignment was uber complicated (who do I blame but myself) so heaven, thank you so much, she extended the deadline. I feel so guilty, haha.

Were moving a bit backwords here, if you've noticed, hehe.

Well, I feel a little guilty for Herman (Lirong, you are not alone). Hmmm. Did nothing much in particular during his classes other than playing around with Illustrator effects. I swear, i'm gonna get all those vectors done ASAP. Deadline, next week.

So, the other assignments were as usual, so-so...but wait. I think saved the best for last.

Now, there is this tiny little problem of the hands. How many hands? Well, one hundred and twenty to say the least. Sighs. In brief, we all have to draw out the animation of a moving hand. To be composed of a minimum hundred and twenty hands, depicting movement. All done in A3, all done in contour. He wants to see at least fifty this coming Tuesday. Joon Kiat is killing us slowly, softly, with his soft, flicking hand gestures.

I thought it'd be manageable but damn, how wrong was I. I don't know how many times i've had to redo this assignment. It is sickening, and it is making me puke. Woweepalooza. I hate my hand now, even though how much my grandmother had told me in the past to be thankful that I had one.

Heck, I don't want to talk about assignments anymore.

God, make me invincible.

Me against the world and nothing else in particular.

Why am I having IMPMS (imaginary male post menstrual syndrome) now. Why oh why. So many different things jumbled up in my brain, its hard to decode what exactly is making me feel all stressed out.

First the emo me during that one halloween nite rehearsal and now this, heck, I don't want this to build up. This year has screwed me up. 6 months ago, I would've looked at myself now and have probably said: what a lame excuse to be so emo, grow up kid.

Haz and Ama, thanks for all the prescriptions (they are highly trained professionals, don't mess).

As for me, i'll try to keep my rants short. I want the old me back. Don't you?

Gravity.

It's pulling us down.

Way, way down.

Pulling us faster, harder.

Without mercy.

Grasping and choking.

Till it sends us to our knee's.

Heads down, knuckles bruised.

Pain, without words.

I know, tell me about it.

It hurts, doesn't it?

Falling down, it hurts.
Being stepped on, it hurts.
Being laughed at when you're down, it hurts.
Being pushed around when you're down, it hurts.
Being less favoured over the other person, it hurts..
Being misunderstood... it hurts, it hurts, it hurts (even now as you're reading this macabre prose).

I don't know how to turn around the effects of gravity. I hate the sound of rage, so I try to avoid it's clutches, and I try to avoid being involved with it. I want to be the best that I can be, yes, I tell myself I am, yet, I feel that my sort of 'best' isn't good enough.

Gosh, the vulnerability, how it shows.

Call me stupid. Call me lame. Call me stuck-up. Call me a heartbreaker. Call me whatever you want to, because I don't care.

But the truth is, I do. If not then why the affirmation?

Guardian angel of mine, please, keep me where the light is...

I want a sip, no, a huge mug of Pina Colada, and I want it now.

Saturday, November 15
We have to move it, move it.

Move our butts, that is.

So finally, the week comes to a close. Darn right it has been stressful. I don't know how many times i've said "don't worry you can do it" to my friends but heck I don't want to end up sounding like an even more faker Adam Khoo. I'm done with being nice anyways, muhuahua.

Our assignments are piling up. So what, people might think, they have assignments too, they have tests to study for, they have projects and ICA's and other what nots, in addition. But i'd like to make their 'so whats' sound a little less effective and proud: So what, NOT, that our assignments form the bulk percentage of our end results? We are doing our 'exams' every single week. And our exams take up aeons of our time. VC people, back me up here. It's not just cutting paper and glueing them up on fancy mounting boards, to say the least.

In the end, it's not the matter of who has the most work to do, but how well we can manage. I prayed for better time management this year, and I think I got it, or part of it to be frank. Procrastination is still in my blood (i don't know why I laughed at that). Can I sigh now? Sigh. So, that's the end of this week's column, I hope to see you again next week or never.

Someone, gladly throw a rock at me.

p.s. All of you have to, if not must watch Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, out in theatres now. After a stressful day at school, it's heaven, being able to laugh like theres no tomorrow (all throughout the movie, yes, its that funny). Thanks again Ina for the night out, I'll keep tabs on our 'who-gets-to-pay-for-the-tickets' scoreboard!

Ring of pleasure.

Aunt Sophia came home today with a box full of treasure and the best piece of news i've heard this year (other than Obama winning): The treasure: Donut Empire doughnuts. The news: A brand new Donut Empire outlet just opened at nearby Tampines Mart. I love you, doughnut fairy.

Sinking your teeth into one of these beauties is an action that can't be put to words (I'll try my best). Feeling the soft, playfully teasing oreo bits crumbling on your lips, while a rush of vanilla-creamy goodness slides onto your tongue, caressing it, embracing the chocolatey bliss and forming one orgasmic entity capable of parting oceans and moving mountains. Oh. Nirvana, right there and then.

Okay, im back from the moon. After school today we went shopping at Plaza Singapura (I assure you, its just a minor R&R thingy, because we don't get to do this often). That Japanese lantern I wanted for my room was nowhere to be seen. Who's willing to accompany me to IMM?

(I don't want to follow you, you cow).

Anyway, thats it. Now, back to the doughnuts. Next up, White Chocolate and Cinammon pleasure. Care for an orgasm, anybody?

Petered out.

As usual, I want to blog about every single thing that happened in my life yet lazy Susan keeps pulling me away. Sighs.

Today, I learnt that 'ergonomics' is a brand new synonym for 'ultimate boredom'. Talk about yawns. I practically slept throughout the entire lecture, and from what ive heard so did three-quarters of the class. Sighs. I really hate it when this happens. Virus analysis: D.S.S: Design Student Syndrome. Sighs. The symptoms: You sleep after 2 a.m. every night. Check. You can't sleep anytime before 2 a.m. every night. Check. You sigh a lot. Check. You feel like sleeping for long periods of time during classes. Check. You cringe in fear when you hear the word 'Subrina'. Checkmate.

(If there are more symptoms do alert me, Dr. Tan, ASAP). To keep it short and sweet, I am tired. T-I-R-D'. Kai, tell me a joke about Joon Kiat, the one that killed me just now.

Oh yawns, save me my queen. I know you all are tired too, I hear your sighs, heck, I even dream about sighing. Sighs. Just keep swimming...

10 things you don't know about me.

Prepare thyself. You'll never look at me the same way again.

10. I once ate a cockroach nymph which hid in my daily chili.

9. When I was a kid, I thought Durex's condoms were really exotic sweets.

8. I had a major crush on Avril Lavigne when she first broke into the music scene with 'Sk8ter Boi'. I used to imagine I was the skater boy and she was the girl I used to know.

7. I don't have a bin in my name, as I have a surname.

6. My second name, Haslam, is actually an English name, not a malay one.

5. I think people with messy hair are sexy.

4. I watch Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends every single day at 1 a.m.

3. I have Placebo, John Mayer, Britney Spears, and Mozart all together in one music playlist.

2. My whole family calls me Bibong (russian slang for 'son').

1. I am mortally afraid of the sound of people fighting.

Thursday, November 6
Well done.

I just realised that I type way too much. Oh, only just. Anyway...

Today's rise 'n' shine was a chaotic mess. A chaotic mess of glue and paper bitsies. I had no mood to finish up the big Typography assignment yesterday night so well, I sorta squeezed it into my 'virgins ass tight' morning schedule. Outcome? Never, again.

I guess some guardian angel named Megan was watching over me this morning, because in the end I managed to get my butt to school with a completed assignment, signed, sealed, delivered (though it sorta got rejected). Thank god all I have to do is neaten it up a bit here and there.

Our class went out for lunch together during the now 2-hour break. Somewhere near Anderson Secondary, this hawker's centre cum market thingy. The mee soto was actually quite tasty, either that, or I was really hungry (as usual). Had Woo's Model Making class thereafter. A reason why after lunch classes totally suck: the food makes you want to sleep. Luckily, it was a fun lesson (I made a heart-shaped box which had the shape of a real heart) though I was glad to have been able to ciao early again. I need to get used to this, haha.

The past couple of days have been up and down. I am not going to forget the truths and dares that got accomplished yesterday by the stage arters (we played around wildly like the big kids we were, after having pizza and chatting). You guys stone, as in stoooooneeee ('rock' is so yesterday). And not to forget the bus trip home, haha, that was fun as well, *winks*.

Let's just say that I've accomplished a lot of things as of today. And if I have hurt anyone in that process of accomplishing things, I truly apologize.

p.s. I see you Putri! Haha.

Vampires will never hurt you.

Okay, enough of the emotional rubbish. Here's the long awaited Halloween Nite 08 entry, four days late. Disclaimer: this is one of those 'get-it-over-and-done-with' kinda posts, so just bear with the lack of enthusiasm.

Vampire vampire vampire, chess. Vampire ling ling bla bla whatever, hahaha.

Okay. The mourning of All Hallow's eve (get it get it, mourning?). Haha yawns. So there I was, cabbing to school with Subrina's dead weight of an assignment in hand, and a huge bag of costumes and props in the other. Ama and me were supposed to help out with the hallowen decorations (we were in E308 by the way) but instead we had to focus more on completing our assignments, which were due that evening. Pressure. The scene: bits of paper and tape scattered everywhere, drawing tools tossed unceremoniously to one corner, and the sick scent of cow gum and sticky tape wafting off in the AC. The life of design students, sigh. Luckily, the other stage arters were there to help with the decorations as well as our assignments. Sorry and thanks guys! (we really had no time at all to finish it the day before).

So it was hectic. Hmm, what else. I remember loud, blaring hip-hop and techno music - Theatre Management was testing out the audio - and of course the occasional (i'm sorry, I meant continuous) laughter. And I also remember being kinda pissed off with stuff later in the afternoon, during project submission. Ooooh. Sorry-worree Ama! (sorry-worree?). Yesiree. Basically, we were stressed out. Yawns. Maybe I gotta learn how to be like Dass and chill brothaa! Lol.

Well, after a short rest period during make-up and hair, it was back to the rehearsals. Wow. From this point onwards, it was a mixture of anticipation, worry, happiness, embarrassment (Ina saw me in make-up, haha!), and hunger for me. Tick tock, I should've blogged about this days ago, now i'm feeling bored. Haha. Okay, yadda yadda yadda, the cow jumped over the moon, and everyone got their freak on with their either scary or kinky costumes and such; cool lads, pretty girls, pretty boys, pretty she-boys, that sort of thing. Before I knew it, it was time.

Kudos to the entire creative team responsible for the sexy spooky decor. The entire place looked freaky great, the haunted walkway thingy was a hit. Either that, or the audience were woosies. Now for our performances. Group 1 did jolly good, jolly good! The play's trannies (especially Amin) traumatised us again. Everyone was laughing like mad, so obviously, well done. After their play it was the senior's turn. I laughed like Spongebob and a piece of paper during their skit (don't worry if you didn't get that, neither did I). Before you knew it, it was time for jang jang jang jang. Yes, after what felt like an eternity later, it was finally our group's turn. Lights, camera, actionnnnn.

That stage. Those lights. Woweepalooza. My first sorta major-ish role with lines. How was it? Well, in short - glitches, mistakes, and an overdose of laughter. Oh. My. Pizza. The murmur of nervous laughter. Though it wasn't a perfect skit, I just want to applaud (loudly) to everyone of you group 2ers. I hate the way I fidget too much during monologues, not to mention how raspy my voice went (I know how I looked and sound, I saw the video!). Well, it feels terrible knowing you could've done more, given in that added umpf and stuff like that, but in the end, I still don't regret anything, because like what all the seniors have been saying, you guys did the most you could have ever done. So seniors, thank you for being so appreciative. We really do appreciate you guys. Haha. Well after that, then, what else? Partaaay time! (ew, cheesy).

I was supposed to come as the psycho axe-boyfriend (get it get it) but someone took my axe (Don't worry, I got it back at the end of the party. Now I can use it to cut open my papayas, brilliant.).

Though the after-party dance went a bit too far (the place was a mess, sorry senior seniors!), we all managed a get-back-together-were-not-mad-at-anyone hug at the end. What a lovely family, us, really *wipes fake tear off eyelid*. Hahaha. Well, after cleaning up the huge mess and returning the props, we all said our goodbyes, and I cabbed home with Vicki and Sheila. Yes, that's all that happened. The ghosts came flying in and out just like that, haha.

Now now, wait. I smell food. Sniff sniff. Italian food. Yummmy. Auntie is getting busy in the kitchen. I'll talk about school later. For now, the kitchen calls!

Sunday, November 2
Filler.

Okay, the need to satisfy my OCD over blog entries is overwhelming. Here are some of the more important things that happened (which I had no time or energy to blog about) the past week. All summarized in trivia form:

***
Knowing that I was going to be late, I rescheduled my dental appointment to Tuesday morning so that I could skip Drawing and Rendering. Then, later found out I was really sick - thus another visit to the clinic later in the evening.

- I have excessive build-up of tartar and plaque.

- Doctor Hong is such a tard.

Went to the Singapore Biennale on Wednesday. Amin freaked us all out in the bus. Wednesday night brought out a side in me which hadn't surfaced in years.

- Cough lozenges don't work. I am telling you.

- Vicki, Farah and Hanisah (and the maple eyes) are the best.

The hecticness that was Thursday. Typography in the morning, Model Making in the evening, my hexagon box looked more like a flattened lotus bun.

- Mr Woo officially beat Vicki to win the title of 'the lamest person I have ever met'.

After school, rushed off to town (we know it means Orchard) to get the various items needed for Halloween Nite. Got lost in the city again. Ama, there is a difference between Far East Shopping Mall and Far East Plaza. Returned to school for last minute rehearsals.

- Never do last minute Halloween shopping. Never, ever.

And too much candy can cause hallucinations. Get a chill pill, if ever your 'blinding rage' seems bent on consuming you. Serious.
***

I shall reserve telling what happened on Friday in a separate post. And by the way, imagine all of that whole week being told in a I-just-lost-my-voice-because-of-laryngitis styled narrative.

Okay, now im pleased.
